WHAT WE DO

Our development intervention has the following groups as target segments:-

  • women,
  • children,
  • the aged, and
  • the infirm.

To ensure a sustainable flow of benefits for the target groups VWS has tirelessly worked towards creating a slew of infrastructure, including

  • school to impart education to the children;
  • safe drinking water and sanitation facilities to the community;
  • skill transfer for creating sustainable earning opportunities;
  • primary health support; and
  • Old-age home for the elder orphans.

PERENNIAL PROJECTS

OLD-AGE HOME

Anandam, located at Pancharul, Udaynarayanpur, Howrah, is partly sponsored by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India (under the Integrated Programme for Older Persons, IPOP). Currently, 54 elder orphan ladies are sheltered here and are provided with all the necessary amenities.

SCHOOL

A junior school with all facilities providing full academic support up to class IV is run on the VWS premises at Pancharul, Udaynarayanpur, Howrah. The school accommodates 210 students and is staffed by trained teaching and non-teaching staff.

VWS also conducts various Awareness Generation and Right to Education Camps where about 2500 children have been covered so far.

HEALTH & HYGIENE

A Rugi Shohayok Kendra (Patient Help Center) is run by VWS at the Satyabala ID Hospital at Ghusuri, Howrah. During the last year 1534 indoor patients, 1002 emergency patients, and around 5102 outdoor patients were provided with health care services.
